About The Two Intertwined
“I feel like people think of their lives in this way, relating moments in their lives to fairy tales or mythology. We have this way of seeing the world in terms of heroes and villains, embellishing certain events, and forgetting others. My paintings have grown out of this; they reveal the deeply rooted patterns of storytelling, mythology and mysticism in our lives.” -- Jack Long
We were intrigued by the woman and the man depicted in the painting and how their lives were obviously entangled but how separate they appear -- each a Rapunzel in their own private tower. So we used the whimsey pieces to tell the hidden story of the puzzle’s image. In this case, the story is of how these two characters bridge the distance between them to make fleeting contact. Look for phases of the moon and three different character sequences, which bring to this design the element of time.
